That's how winners look like! But how do they, actually ? Hardly any area of society is still as strictly divided by gender as the world of sports. In a mixture of fiction, documentary scenes and archive material, the film shakes up stereotypical gender categories in competitive sport. At the historically significant location, the Olympic Stadium in Athens, queer athletes meet and share their very personal challenges. LIFE IS NOT A COMPETITION, BUT I'M WINNING searches for the queer-feminist potential in the Olympic disciplines and creates a world beyond rigid ideas of gender. A multicoloured utopia in Cinemascope.

Followed by: discussion on gender equity in sport.
The debate around the topic of gender and sports, especially when it comes to the success of trans athletes, is often polarizing and emotional. Much of it is about fundamental questions about fairness, respect, sportsmanship, and equality. Following LIFE IS NOT A COMPETITION, BUT I'M WINNING, we would like to talk with film guests (Amanda Reiter from the cast) and regional atheltes from the Brunswick sports scene about the ways in which definitions of gender shape the world of sports and the hurdles that must be overcome so that athletes, regardless of gender, receive the access and recognition they deserve.
