Howard, a retired captain and widower, lives alone - and somewhat chaotically - in a house by the sea. His daughter Grace hires a carer for him: Annie. Dismissive and stubborn, Howard rejects Annie's company, but eventually opens his heart and gives his new love a chance. Grace has problems of her own to solve and finds her father's romance difficult, as Annie receives the attention from her father that she herself has always missed.

This is a film that captivates and maintains suspense until the end. Gradually, through flashbacks into the family history, the complicated father-daughter relationship is explained. It is his most emotional film, says director Klaus Härö.
