”Twelfe Night, Or what you will” was composed by Shakespeare for his native Christmas-festivities, a festival which in our culture could be compared to the carnival. Anarchy rules; the established order is turned upside down. So it`s no surprise that this great romcom contains one of the best breeches-roles ever: Viola is played by Helga Čočková in this casual, jazzed up musical, while the incomparable Annekathrin Bürger plays her admirer, the Countess Olivia. Its unabashed self-consciousness and stage-rootedness does nothing to harm Nichts als Sünde (Nothing but Sin). Quite the opposite: it looks as though the cinema itself has dressed up for the occasion!
