It could be a simple story: man meets woman. But not with Kári. His interest concerns figures who are ”slightly different”, ”misplaced” and who thus create more interesting situations than characters that conform. Kári`s affection for ”outsiders” is a leitmotiv in all his films. In this film it is Fúsi, a seriously overweight 43-year-old who works at the airport, has not yet left Iceland or his parents and goes through the same routines every day. Until he meets a woman at a dancing course. The film, with its typical Scandinavian laconic but sensitive narrative style, shows the small emotional changes in this huge man. The film has already won international prizes.
