ICH, DANIEL BLAKE, won the Golden Palm at the 2016 Film Festival in Cannes. Daniel Blake, member of the English working class mileau tries to gain a foothold again in a partially privatised health service after a heart attack. During this endeavour, he gets to know a single mother with two children. Apart from the friendship between the two, there is very little good news in the kingdom. Unpretentiously and authentically, the criticism of the modern welfare system takes its course. Interwoven with dry humour and emotional moments, Ken Loach brings the classical motives of social cinema with a modern face onto the screen. Impressive actors in an outstanding film script.
