An Afghan gang of children dig out old Soviet landmines and sell the explosive contents to other children who work in the nearby Lapis Lazuli mines. The dream of the withdrawal of the American troops connect all of them. Surreally, shockingly and without a moralising clamp, the film impresses with its associative imagery from the grey zone between documentation and fiction. For over 7 years, the filmmaker accompanied children and US-soldiers through the stunning landscape of Hindu Kush. Honoured with the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Best Cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and recently nominated for the Shortlist of the European Film Award.
