How was it possible that one man could change the world order so dramatically? Andrzej Wajda’s film WALESA tries to get to the bottom of this phenomenon: A film about Lech Wałesa - a husband, a father and a simple worker, but most of all the leader of the polish „Solidarność“- union. The story of the struggle against communism in Poland is also the story of Wałesa’s family, which was meant to lead an ordinary life but found itself in the midst of historic events. WALESA was Polands candidate for the Oscar run in 2014. Andrzej Wajda died on the 9th of October 2016. We are screening this film as a tribute to him.
