Even before the fall of the Berlin Wall, photographer Sven Marquardt – today also known for his striking appearance as a bouncer of the legendary Berghain Technoclub – portrays the subcultural scene of East Berlin in black and white photographs. After a break of 25 years, Marquardt reinvents himself and achieves world fame with his work for fashion labels. Night, intoxication, excess and darkness are all central to his works. He meets two of his companions from the mutual East Berlin punk period again: Robert Paris and Dominique "Dome" Hollenstein, and a new project is created about Berlin, about longing for individuality, non-conformity and rebellion in two different systems of values.
