In 1897, Count Dracula travels to London and falls in love with the spitting image of his former fiancée. An epic battle for life, death and redemption begins ...
"I want the score for DRACULA to be like a Prokofiev score for Eisenstein. I want it to be performed by symphony orchestras," wrote director Francis Ford Coppola in his diary in 1991. Now Coppola's wish is coming true. In the 22nd year of their collaboration, the Braunschweig International Film Festival and the Braunschweig State Orchestra invite you to the German premiere of BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA - LIVE IN CONCERT in the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig. "It was an offer I couldn't refuse," recalled Wojciech Kilar (1932-2013). Poland's most important film composer since the 1960s, his score for BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA made him immortal. This groundbreaking reinterpretation of the Dracula myth is a darkly erotic fairy tale full of passion. Coppola's lush images and Kilar's overwhelming music form an intoxicating symbiosis.
The opening concert is presented in cooperation with the Braunschweig State Orchestra and the Braunschweig State Theatre and is sponsored by the Braunschweig Cultural Heritage Foundation. Supported by the co-main sponsor BS|ENERGY.
