The understating title of this documentary defines the character of Mario Adorf quite well: after all, he is one of the very few world stars from Germany. And of course the film doesn't claim to be complete – how can it be with more than 120 films? Director Dominik Wessely therefore not only looks back on Adorf's career, but also provides us with insights into previously hidden stages of the actor and author: his view of the world, politics and aging. Wessely travels with him to the scenes of his life: Mayen in the Eifel, where Adorf grew up without a father; Florence, Rome, Munich, southern France. All this together shows us how strongly Mario Adorf influenced German post-war cinema.

Director's Biography:Born in 1966 in Munich. The director, documentary filmmaker, screenwriter and Grimme award winner lives in Berlin. 1998 he attracted attention in Germany with his cinema documentary DIE BLUME DER HAUSFRAU.
