1956-1964 is the golden age of Liverpudlian music. The port city with its nearby US-Airbase is a unique melting pot in which more than 1000 bands play in hundreds of clubs skiffle, country, jazz, folk, black music and rock `n` roll. The cradle of European music is by the River Mersey. In the 80s bands like OMD and Frankie Goes to Hollywood conquer the charts. And up to today Liverpool sets new trends. In GET BACK musicians, journalists and club owners talk about the history of a pop revolution which neither began with the Beatles nor ended with them. The magic becomes perceptible for the audience in rare recordings from the archives and exclusive live performances.
