Circa 60 kilograms of potatoes are consumed by the German population per year, this means that around 160 grams are consumed per day, while at the time of 1950/51 the consumtion of potatoes was circa 176 kilograms a year. The consumption is falling since half a century, but many gourmet cooks around the world want the potatoe to make its comeback again.
