ARTIFISHAL is about Pacific salmon and efforts to prevent it from extinction. It is about wild rivers and wild fish and nature conservation that is misunderstood. The documentary follows the influence of salmon hatcheries and also shows the enormous waste of public money on an industry that hinders nature, pollutes rivers and exacerbates the problems it claims to alleviate. But the impressive documentary also shows that there is growing understanding of the role that living in the wild plays in salmon development and that efforts are being made to restore fish to their ancestral habitat.

Director's Biography:Murphy began his career with the award-winning sport documentary UNPARALLELED. He is a popular director for TV features and co-founder of Liars & Thieves!, a production company from San Francisco.
