Between 1932 and 1936 the philosopher Günther Anders wrote his first, albeit only published posthumously, novel, ”The Molussian Catacomb”, an episodic story about life in a totalitarian country, where prisoners, kept in total darkness in underground cells, pass on knowledge about freedom and revolution in allegorical fables and conversations. Rey condenses eight of these fables, so that they can be recited in circa 10 minutes and accompanies them with images of disconcerting beauty; one fable: one reel. These reels (plus a silent ninth) can be shown in any sequence; note: many ways lead to an anti-fascist goal.
