The 13-year-old Ava finds out in the summer holidays on the French Atlantic coast that she will lose her eyesight much earlier than expected. While her mother tries to ignore this fact for her sake, Ava defiantly finds her own ways of facing the unavoidable. She steals a black dog which belongs to a man on the run and without further ado joins up with him. While time is running out for both of them, Ava gets involved in perhaps the biggest adventure of her life. The filmmaker Léa Mysius skilfully exploits the setting with the blinding light of the summer, in contrast to the darkness of Ava`s imminent loss of sight.
