Holland at the end of the Second World War: When the hiding place of the Jewish woman Rachel Stein is destroyed, she tries to reach the liberated south of the Netherlands by boat. Her ship is intercepted by a German patrol. All the refugees are shot and robbed. Only Rachel survives. The singer has nothing left to lose and joins the Dutch resistance. Under the name Ellis de Vries she makes friends with Müntze, the German officer of the security service. He is very taken with the attractive woman and offers her a job as a typist. With Ellis' help, the resistance group wants to free the prisoners....
