Artist Antonio, the reincarnation of a vampire, lives at the Beatnik coast of California. For his “Dead Red Nudes” he is on the hunt for young women. In an avantgarde ballerina he sees his reborn lover. BLOOD BATH is a fascinating, unplanned “collaboration” of three directors. Producer Roger Corman had a Yogoslavian spy thriller reworked. However, Corman wasn’t happy with the result: a horror movie about a psychopathic ripper. So he instructed Stephanie Rothman to complete the movie. Rothman wrote and shot 30 minutes of new matrial and expanded it by the vampire motif. As the very first woman, Rothman made a horror movie.

Director's Biography:Born in 1936, she grew up in L.A., studied film at the USC and was the first woman to receive a scholarship from the Directors Guild of America. 1964-1971 she worked for Roger Corman. The Viennale honored Rothman with a retrospective in 2007.
