Picture by Bartosz Mrozowski. ”I make films about what offends me in Poland”, says Malgorzata Szumowska, one of the most well-known Polish film directors. In 2018 MUG was awarded the Jury Grand Prix at the Berlinale. Jacek, fun-loving outsider in the Polish province, works at the construction site of the largest Jesus statue in the world. After a serious work accident, he undergoes a first face transplant. All eyes of the village are focused on him... MUG, a sad tragedy and social satire on false piety and intolerance, relates at the same time a universal story about people who cannot or do not want to correspond to society`s norms.
