“People, animals and sensations!” await you. Even as adults, Anna and Charlotte are still vying for the favour and attention of their mother Ines. Ines skilfully and cheerfully chooses who she currently favours. When old wounds open up in this structure and the siblings move back into their parents’ house, they discover secrets – including anonymous ashes and their mother’s love for a donkey. The film’s occasionally very black humour is carried by three enthusiastic leading actresses, an imaginative script and coherent camerawork. Family dynamics are mocked in an entertaining and enjoyable way without losing any of their depth. Weird. Wicked. Moving.

Director's Biography:Rosanne Pel, born 1987 in the Netherlands, completed her master’s degree at the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam in 2015. Pel lives in Hamburg. DONKEY DAYS, her second feature film, was nominated for the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival in 2025.
