1946, the doctor Alexej and his family follow Stalin’s call to come back to Russia to help rebuilding their homeland after the Second World War. When arriving there, it turns out that the former emigrants shall be murdered or exploited in labour camps. Marie, Alexej’s French wife, can’t stand the life in the repressive homeland of her husband and wants to return to France. At the same time, she gets to know Sascha, a talented swimmer for whom participating in the European championship would be the only possibility to escape from Russia. A story about surrender and the quest for freedom and love in a totalitarian regime with a brilliant cast.
