”I saw decades of foreign occupation and war with women at the mercy of political, ideological and religious debate”, says director Sedika Mojadidi. Mojadidi is an unobtrusive companion of two champions of Afghan women`s rights. Her documentation was given the Nestor Almendros award for courageous film making. It is the other side of Afghanistan in which women have to constantly renegotiate their political work in a world between family reponsibility, fragile democracy and increasing violence. The uncertainty in the country is increasing, the religious hardliners and the Taliban are putting forward an agenda which threatens the fragile progress of Afghan women.
