A danish summer. A tunnel will be built to connect denmark and germany. Dara, an ethnologist, arrives to documend the houses tagged for demolition. Thereby she finds Agnes' diaries. Agnes will soon lose the roof over her head. Birthe and Leif will also have to leave their house that has been passed down for generations. Meanwhile the young pole Lucek and his colleagues prepare the future construction site. Lolland becomes the mikrocosm of the changes caused by the postindustrial world. A summer with long days that turn into blue nights.

Director's Biography:Born 1984 in Nakstov (DK). Studies in directing at the dffb. Her graduation film was nominated for the Discovery Award of the European Film Academy and was shown at BIFF 2014. GIRAFFE (2019) is her second feature film.
