A classic among the time loop films: Bill Murray as the arrogant creep Phil Connors has to again and again experience the day anew until he is reformed and transformed into a new human being so that he can conquer the woman he worships. Connors is a TV weatherman who is to report about Groundhog Day from the small town of Punxsutawney. But from the next morning, the 2nd February re-begins again and again, and apart from him nobody else notices. Phil first lets off steam and commits, amongst other things, suicide before he confides in Rita and falls in love with her. He begins to spend his time usefully and has to win over Rita’s confidence every day anew. When his love is requited, the time loop ends as well.
