England in 1415, the young Henry V lays claim to the French throne. He lands on the continent with an invasion army. Weather and sickness are decimating Henry`s troops. He has to confront the superior enemy at Agincourt. In 1990 the Spiegel wrote about Branagh`s film debut: ”His production show power, rhetorical brilliance, and impressively bleak pomp.” The legend has it that Henry V had the hymn ”non nobis” recited to him after the battle of Agincourt. On the basis of this, Patrick Doyle created one of the most beautiful and popular choral works of film music.
