Alfred Hitchcock is considered one of the most influential film directors of the 20th century. His greatest success? PSYCHO: a film that shattered the conventions relating to violence and nudity in cinema at the time. HITCHCOCK reveals how this film was able to be made at all. At the end of the 1950s, Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) are at their creative peak. And yet they are surrounded by allusions to their impending retirement. During this time, the controversial horror novel “Psycho” arouses Hitchcock’s fascination. Against all advice, he is determined to make a film version of it – a project that he has to finance himself and that pushes his marriage to its limits...
