N/A

The short film is a genre allowing creative experiments and provocation, inviting playful use of stylistic elements and often offering the first stepping stone in a young filmmaker’s career. The European Film Academy (EFA) supports the short film as a genre through which a new generation of filmmakers develops and finds its way into the future of European cinema. The EFA is now presenting the SHORT MATTERS! tour, showcasing the best European short films. This year’s program consists of 15 festival winning films. The films shown were awarded at film festivals across Europe in 2013 and were automatically nominated for the short film category of the European Film Awards. The winner of the European Film Award was finally selected by the EFA members (currently 2,900 European film professionals). Last year the award has been given to VAN DOOD VAN EEN SCHADUW (Death of a Shadow) by Belgian filmmaker Tom Van Avermaet.
