Germany 2018
Age Limit: <

Picture by Steve Gullick. Irmin Schmidt is the founder of CAN, one of the most important bands in pop and jazz music worldwide. Bowie, Radiohead, Portishead or Joy Division are “inconceivable” without Schmidt’s influence, says director Wim Wenders. Schmidt, born in 1937, has constantly re-invented himself and after CAN has made, among other things, twelve solo albums, written eighty film scores and an opera. Included in the programme are CAN-DIALOGUE FOR LARGE ORCHESTRA (German premiere), as well as film music by Schmidt. This has been re- arranged by Gregor Schwellenbach for Brunswick. Irmin Schmidt will conduct the Brunswick State Orchestra. The concert is part of the Irmin Schmidt retrospective in the BIFF. Supported by: Staattheater Braunschweig, Stiftung Braunschweigischer Kulturbesitz.
