Quote after quote are heaped together in the usual Godard style. This time they`re lifted from ”The Tragedie of King Lear” and other Shakespeare plays as well, probably. Uncle Jean-Luc isn`t really that particular. But this isn`t an adaptation exactly – or is it? Whatever. Why worry when J. -L.G. never fails to shoot straight from the hip of the educated middle class. The story of a descendant of Shakespeare living in a post-Chernobyl, apocalyptic world, who tries to save whatever he can from his ancestor. The money came from Cannon Films, known for their ninja epics, and include performances from, among others, Norman Mailer, Woody Allen, Peter Sellars, and not Quentin Tarantino.
