As far back as teenagers Marion, Claire and Louise can remember, their lives have been shaped by the emotional ups and downs of their mother Alice, who suffers from bipolar disorder. Only the love of her daughters can save Alice from the destructive spiral she slips deeper into with each passing day. She describes her relationship with her children with the words: "I don't know if you realise it, but you are rocks." LA RUCHE tells of a fierce, indescribable and unconditional love. As in many of his works, director Christophe Hermans focuses on the individuals in his feature film debut, looking at teenage years and family relationships.
