Agadez in the West African country of Niger was once a tourist magnet. The desert and Tuareg romanticism attracted western holidaymakers. Today, the city has become a hub for African migrants. More than 80% pass through the region on their way to Europe. In 2015, the EU launched a project in the Sahara to stop migration towards the Mediterranean. How do the people of Niger experience the interventions of the EU, the USA and Turkey? How have their lives changed as a result? Over the course of five years, the two directors repeatedly travelled to the region and spoke to the people, three of whom talk about their lives. The result is a revealing, visually stunning documentary.

Director's Biography:Director's Biography:Gerald Igor Hauzenberger studied film, theatre and art in Berlin and Vienna. Since 2001, he has been working as a director, cameraman and producer. His production company Framelab specialises in political and social issues.Gabriela Schild is a French-Austrian author, director and producer. She completed her studies at the film schools in Lyon and Québec. She specialises in the interface between film and therapy.
