The pandemic year with all its restrictions had a major impact on the film industry. This was also the case with the short films. Two themes unfortunately forced together by the situation stood out: pandemic and loneliness. However, the filmmakers managed to elicit a surprising amount of charm and wit from these rather sombre themes. But other themes such as stories about love and passion, stories from Europe, especially the Netherlands, and also spooky, dark films lent themselves to these series of films.
