Picture by David Know and Brian Harney. This silent film tells the story of a rustic elderly male couple in the rural 1920s South that finds an enchanting girl from the moon on their farm and adopt her as their own. Shot on a 1920s hand-crank camera, CLAIRE is an uncompromising homage to early cinema. Variety Magazine calls it an ”utterly charming, even poignant viewing experience.” Composer Anne Richardson worked closely with director Milford Thomas to create an original score for 11 musicians inspired by Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Aaron Copland. In 2018, composer Brian Mitchell adapted the score to three strings and a percussionist. Four members of the State Orchestra Braunschweig will accompany the German Premiere. Supported by: Verein für sexuelle Emanzipation e.V., Queeres Netzwerk Niedersachsen e.V., supported with funds of the Ministry of Social, Health and Equality of Lower Saxony.
