SILENT FILM CONCERT: GOLDRUSH
(orig. STUMMFILMKONZERT: GOLDRAUSCH)
Germany 2018
Director: Charlie Chaplin
Age Limit: <
Picture by Europäische Filmphilharmonie. The Gold Rush, Charlie Chaplin´s silent film classic from 1925, makes the Klondike gold rush the subject of discussion. In the film, Chaplin uses the exaggerated bounty hunting of the gold prospectors as a metaphor for a world that is only interested in material values, in which he however - despite all his clumsiness - finds in the end his own personal happiness in the form of love. Chaplin`s music serves as the musical accompaniment which he did not compose until 17 years later for a sound film version.
