Romania 1968 in the time of Ceaușescu and Securitate. Dad has a kind of tumour, often has double vision and particularly worryingly prepares a ”flambed crepe suzette” on his own. His son Mihai is informer and doctor. Brother Emil wants a subversive mural called ”Retired Stalinists and Dubcek for Romania”, which leads to considerable difficulties. Only an operation in Dresden can help Daddy, so they pile into the car and in the guise of a holiday, make their way to the GDR. There they are imprisoned ”for their own safety” and must go back to Romania via West Germany. But they end up first in a socialist commune in Munich.
