Picture by Warwick Orme. The radio hit ”Streets of Your Town” made The Go-Betweens in 1988 (almost) into stars. After 6 albums, which were all acclaimed but sold moderately, the group broke up in 1989 due to internal group dynamics. In 2000 Robert Forster and Grant McLennan (died 2006) got together again. Today the Go-Betweens have iconic status and are considered the most influential Australian band of the last 40 years. In extracts from their concerts and highly emotional interviews with all the living ex-members of the band, a story unfolds of deep male friendship, love, alcohol, conflict, loss and the most melodious independent guitar pop of the 1980s. The Guardian: ”An emotional, rolling thunder of a film.”
