The cardiac surgeon Stephen (Collin Farrell) develops a strange relationship with 16-year-old Martin. The boy`s father died on Stephen`s operating table and from then on Martin plans to bring Stephen and his mother together. When this doesn`t work, he places a curse on Stephen`s family: as in the Greek legend of Iphigenia, for every debt, someone must be sacrificed. Stephen has two choices: kill your children or your wife (Nicole Kidman) or everyone will die a slow death. Stephen doesn`t believe Martin until he realizes that his son has symptoms of paralysis. A psychological thriller that degrades its characters to emotionless chess pawns and creates subtle horror.
