Hedwig Höß is the mother of five children, wife of the commandant of Auschwitz and lives directly next to the extermination camp. How can one live like this? In her portrayal of Hedwig Höß, Sandra Hüller does not allow any explanation of personal motives, but instead demonstrates her attitude towards the system through her cool screen presence. “I was particularly astonished by the emptiness. That there was really nothing about this character that you could employ to remember her by. That it was all about functioning and a certain form of automatism, which ultimately means that she does not even care about her own family. It is always about the image that is created, about the exterior appearance, the ideal world,” explains Sandra Hüller 

Director's Biography:Jonathan Glazer, born 1965 in London, studied theatre design and initially worked as a theatre director. He acquired international recognition with his commercials and the music video for VIRTUAL INSANITY by the band Jamiroquai. His definitive breakthrough was achieved with SEXY BEAST.
