Since time immemorial, the moon has been apostrophized in poetry. But no less authoritatively has the seventh art-form Cinema captured our neighbouring luminary’s mystery. The Irish filmmaker Tadhg O’Sullivan has scoured the world film archives right back to the silent period to come up with a combination of sequences shot under moonlight that electrify the viewer with their captivating beauty. All the moods are there: wonder, romance, melancholy and finally (of course) horror, woven together by a marvellous verbal and musical soundtrack. Simple in conception and yet so rich and nuanced in execution, TO THE MOON is an example of the poetic essay film at its finest.

Director's Biography:Tadhg O’Sullivan is filmmaker, editor, and sound designer from Ireland. His unconventional, poetic documentaries often explore and challenge existing power structures. His work has been shown extensively in festivals worldwide.
