Picture by Ciné-Tamaris. The young vagabond Mona would like to live in absolute freedom and roams aimlessly through the wintry rural South of France. In so doing, she has some fleeting encounters on the way during which she sets off both admiring as well as negative emotions. ”She disrupts and confuses because she rejects everything, even the slightest social ingratiation, every perspective. She also disrupts because she is never the victim, never pitiable”, says Agnes Varda on her film about the last few weeks of the dropout. The soberly and unsentimentally related drama won the Golden Lion in Venice in 1985. 18-year-old Sandrine Bonnaire won her second César for it and celebrated her international breakthrough.
