Picture by Matthias Bothor. In this melancholic episodic film, the ups and downs of middle-aged city dwellers who seek help from the psychotherapist Maximilian are related. In the process, Maximilian himself gets sucked into the maelstrom of helplessness when he falls in love with a patient. With unobtrusive humour and astute dialogues, the viewer gets an insight into six sad, humorous and ironic love stories which, in spite of the drama, are not hopeless. In a press meeting, the director and screenwriter Sandra Nettelbeck said that for her it is a film of hope, ”the hope of us all that we can mould our lives the way that we want to”.
