Despite massive resistance, female bodies are still the focus of numerous attempts at control – yet at the same time, they are shockingly under-researched and misunderstood. This ignorance repeatedly puts female-identified individuals in absurd, dangerous, and degrading situations. In a short film program curated by the Braunschweig International Film Festival, eight filmmakers expose sexist legislation, discriminatory health policies, and normative expectations. Relentlessly direct, angry, and humorous, they tell the stories of protagonists who, despite everything, face life with unwavering determination. Content Note: Recommended for ages 16 and up due to themes of sexuality, violence, and psychologically challenging situations. Cover image © May Kindred Boothby/THE EATING OF AN ORANGE
