Zwickau, the former mining town in Saxony, is the starting point of a journey to the north, to the seaside, a place of longing. At 40 the director leaves the town she grew up in once more to feel the lives of others, to feel how they want to live. On the train, at work or in their homes she meets men and women of different generations, from different classes, and listens to the stories of their lives. The men and women express their wish for friendliness, respect, tolerance and most importantly equal treatment in private as well as within society.

Director's Biography:Born July 18, 1947 in Zwickau, in then still unified Germany. Educated as a furniture carpenter and physiotherapist. Director and assistant at the national television of the GDR. Studied directing at the Konrad Wolf University of Film. In 1990 she founded one of East Germany’s first independant film studios.
