The episodic film GERMAN ANGST carries three conjoined thumprints: Buttgereit`s morbid view of daily life, Marschall`s descent into the abyss of black eroticism and Kosakowski`s fusion of politics and horror. They flow together like a dark composition - a disturbing picture of the present. In a workshop discussion the three directors explain how they made their visions come alive. Without exaggeration, Buttgereit is a living legend. He subverts existing genre expectations and creates his own. His works deal with psychic chasms that is ostracized or feared by society. Kosakowski`s first feature ZERO KILLED has been shown in more than 40 film festivals. He produced and directed numerous shorts, experimental films, and video installations. Marschall’s debut TEARS OF KALI gained worldwide success. He focuses on traditions of silent film expressionism and film genre excesses of the 70s.
