Creative transformative power that inspires: Die EUROPA for Sandra Hüller

Together with the main sponsor Volkswagen Financial Services, the BIFF is awarding Die EUROPA, the festival's main prize worth €25,000, for the 18th time!

The EUROPA will be awarded in 2025 to Sandra Hüller will be awarded. The German actress is an exceptional phenomenon in the European theater and film landscape of the 21st century. Thanks to her ability to interpret every role with equal intensity, she gives her characters a unique presence. Hüller's creative power of transformation has inspired almost 50 films. Hüller has personally selected five of these for the BIFF. From her first, multi-award-winning leading role in Hans-Christian Schmid's REQUIEM to Justine Triet's ANATOMY OF A CASE for which she was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars, these works exemplify Hüller's passionate commitment to cinema.

"Sandra Hüller inspires audiences time and time again with her multifaceted approach and has rightly made a name for herself in Hollywood," says Thorsten Rinke, Chairman of the Filmfest-Verein. Festival visitors will have the opportunity to see Hüller's multifaceted talent for themselves during the festival week on Saturday, November 15, at 3:30 p.m. invites them to a talk. Main sponsor Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS), which is also donating the prize money for Die EUROPA, is also looking forward to welcoming the actress. "The Braunschweig International Film Festival has provided an important platform for international film culture for many years. As a long-standing main sponsor, we are not only looking forward to supporting this showcase for the cinematic world, but also to all the exciting international guests such as Sandra Hüller, who will be visiting the Lion City during the festival week," says Anthony Bandmann, member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Financial Services.
