Today, our film festival association has over 50 members, some of whom have been involved with the festival since its very beginnings or for many years. With the special series “Over 40—Favorites from Five Decades of Filmfest,” , we take the audience on a cinematic journey through our festival’s history. The focus is on five very personal favorite films from 1989 to 2023, selected by association members. What makes this special is that they all experienced these films as festival guests at the time, rather than as organizers.
The selection is complemented by two audience favorites that opened the 8th and 13th editions of the Filmfest and have since become classics. A short film program featuring six award-winning BIFF entries rounds out the series
The films were curated by:
Peter Wentzler (founding member)
Clemens Williges (member since 1995)
Kirsten Schult (member since 2014)
Katrin Mosel (member since 2023)
Morten Langmeier (member since 2026)
