A documentary about the reality of migrants on the Mediterranean route from Libya to Italy. ASTRAL concentrates on the story of the luxury yacht of Italian businessman Livio Lo Monaco, which was rebuilt into a rescue ship for more than 300,000 euros to patrol the Mediterranean and rescue migrants with a team of volunteer doctors and lifeguards from the NGO ”Protective Open Arms.” The film begins with the rebuilding and refitting of the ship before accompanying the crew up close on their rescue missions. A film with stunning visuals, convincing through its sheer proximity to documentation.
