1. Scope of application
The following Terms and Conditions contain provisions for ticket sales for events run by Internationales Filmfest Braunschweig e.V., Neue Strasse 8, 38100 Braunschweig (hereinafter referred to as "Association"), in particular the annual Braunschweig International Film Festival (BIFF). In addition, they regulate other rights and obligations of the contract parties arising between the visitor to events of any kind and the Association in the context of events run by the Association. Special events taking place in cooperation with the Association but for which the Association is not itself the organizer are excepted.
2. Programme changes, start times, publications
Events run by the Association, such as the BIFF film programme, and the start times of the individual film showings, can be found in the official publications of the Association (website, programme booklet, catalogue, Facebook). The Association reserves the right to make changes to programme times.
3. Contract conclusion and use of tickets
Entry to the showings is only permitted with a valid ticket. Before entry to showings by the Association, the customer is required to show the purchased ticket to the gate personnel at the entrance to the venue and to provide valid proof of identification if required to do so.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at ticket outlets. During the festival, tickets for all showings are available at the ticket sales counters and online at www.filmfest-braunschweig.de. Tickets for Association events are available at various prices, set and published by the Association.
The Association reserves the right to exclude certain showings from online ticket sales, and to restrict the number of tickets available to the purchaser in justified individual cases.
Tickets are intended for personal use only. The purchaser is in particular prohibited from:
• offering tickets for sale online,
• selling tickets without express prior written permission from the Association,
• using or transferring tickets for the purposes of promotion or advertising or as prizes without express prior written permission from the Association.
In the case of non-compliance, the ticket purchaser or ticket-holder will forfeit the right to attend the event with no right to refund of the ticket price or the ticket fees. Anyone reproducing tickets and/or passing them into circulation without permission may be held liable by the event organizer for any consequential loss. Prosecution will follow in all cases (acquisition of services by false pretences, fraud, counterfeiting).
3.2 Seat selection and seat reservation
No seat reservations or tickets giving access to a specific seat are offered for events run by the Association. Seats can only be guaranteed if they are taken up at least five minutes before the start of the event. The Association reserves the right to reassign seats not occupied at the start of the event. For special events and cooperative events, tickets may be assigned with specific seats and seat reservations may be possible.
3.3 Ticket sales at ticket sales counters
General advance sales are available at Universum Filmtheater, Neue Strasse 8, 38100 Braunschweig and C1 Cinema, Lange Strasse 60, 38100 Braunschweig.
Provided tickets are not sold out, they will be available for sale at the box office at the location from 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
3.4 Special passes: season tickets, books of 5 or 10 tickets and vouchers for free tickets
Season tickets and books of 5 or 10 tickets are available from Universum Filmtheater and C1 Cinema (see addresses in point 3.3 of these conditions) and are valid for the events shown.
Special passes are valid only for events within the BIFF festival week in the stated event year. No refund is available for unused portions of the ticket and the ticket may not be used in subsequent years. Holders of special passes must collect a "free ticket" (ticket at 0 euros) from a ticket sales counter or print one out when booking online.
The "free ticket" must be shown in combination with the special pass upon admission to the event venue.
Free ticket vouchers must similarly be exchanged for a "free ticket" for the desired event at a ticket sales counter and are valid without a special pass.
Accreditations are available by registering in advance via the website www.filmfest-braunschweig.de and must be collected from the festival counter during the BIFF. They are valid for the events shown. Holders of accreditations must collect a "free ticket" (ticket at 0 euros) from a ticket sales counter or print one out when booking online. The "free ticket" is only valid in combination with the accreditation. Accreditations are valid only for events of the stated BIFF.
Reduced tickets are available to entitled persons from ticket sales counters upon presentation of relevant proof of entitlement. Eligibility for reduction must be shown upon entry to the event. If proof cannot be provided, the price difference between the reduced price and the full ticket price must be paid. School children, students, unemployed persons, persons in receipt of benefits, pensioners and severely disabled persons are entitled to reductions upon presentation of the appropriate proof. Persons with severe disabilities may be given priority.
3.7 Online ticket sales
Only full-price tickets can be purchased via online ticket sales.
Any fees for online sales will be shown during the course of the booking process. All tickets purchased online must be printed out at home. No admission will be granted with the order confirmation only and without a ticket. We point out that the provisions concerning the right to cancellation of distance selling contracts do not apply (§ 312g Paragraph 2 Pt. 9 of the German Civil Code (BGB)). Once the online order has been submitted it is no longer possible to exchange, return or cancel the tickets purchased.
3.8 Payment and billing
Cash is the only form of payment accepted at the ticket sales counters. An invoice or receipt can be provided on request and cannot be provided at a later time.
For online ticket purchases, the customer can pay the purchase price by credit card, PayPal or immediate bank transfer.
If a credit card payment is rejected, the customer undertakes to pay the price plus any costs arising within 10 days of receipt of the service. These costs include costs arising as a result of the rejection of the credit card payment.
In the case of payment by immediate bank transfer, you are able to make the payment via your online bank account during the order process. After selecting the payment type 'immediate bank transfer' in the order process, you will be immediately redirected to the secure payment form of Klarna Bank AB (publ), Sveavägen 46, 111 34 Stockholm, Sweden. Klarna Bank AB handles the payment in an automated process which is kept confidential from the Association and is comparable to making a debit card payment with PIN. Similarly to a debit card payment, when an immediate bank transfer is made, Klarna Bank AB checks the availability of funds in your account and, if sufficient funds are available, will make the transfer to the Association. In addition, in around 30 percent of cases, Karna Bank AB's system checks whether previous payments have been made by immediate bank transfer in order to rule out systematic fraud.
In order to carry out an immediate bank transfer, Klarna Bank AB requires, in addition to your name, bank sort code and account number, the PIN and a TAN for your online bank account. Only your name, sort code, account number, purpose of the transaction, amount and date of transfer will be stored. The available funds, balance of your account and previous transactions will not be stored.
If the transaction is successful, the Association will receive an automated real time confirmation from Klarna Bank AB that the transfer has been completed.
4. Return of tickets
The return of tickets already purchased is not permitted. In the case of the cancellation of any event, the ticket cost will be refunded at the ticket sales counters. Tickets can only be refunded during the festival period.
5. Lost tickets
Lost tickets will not be replaced or reprinted.
A valid cinema ticket is proof of the right to attend a particular film showing. No admission to cinema auditoriums will be granted without a valid ticket.
The Association is not required to check whether the cinema guest has acquired the ticket legally.
The Association reserves the right to check right of admission at any time and, if no right of admission can be demonstrated, to refuse admission to the cinema auditorium or to expel the cinema guest from the showing. The guest must therefore retain the ticket until the end of the showing.
Once a showing has begun, for security reasons and in consideration of other guests, guests will only be admitted to the auditorium up to a suitable point in time. The decision is left to cinema staff as to whether and at what point in time admission to the showing can be granted after the start of the film.
Guests are not permitted to take cameras, digital cameras, video, DVD and similar image or audio recording devices into the cinema auditoriums. Cinema guests are required to hand objects of this type in at the cinema ticket counter before entering a cinema auditorium and to collect them on leaving the auditorium. The recording of images or sound using mobile phones, tablets or similar devices is prohibited.
Cinema staff and employees of the Association are entitled for security reasons to search bags and clothing of cinema guests before entry to and upon leaving the cinema auditorium or to demand that cinema guests show the contents of bags and clothing. If the cinema guest refuses or hinders the search or refuses to show the contents of bags or clothing, he/she will be denied admission to the auditorium without reimbursement of the ticket price.
Taking weapons and other dangerous objects into the cinema auditoriums is prohibited. Accordingly, cinema staff and employees of the Association are entitled for security reasons to search bags and clothing of cinema guests before entry to and upon leaving the cinema auditorium.
8. Right of refusal
Visitors may be refused admission to the venues if there are grounds to assume that they will disturb the presentation or other visitors. The following are prohibited in all ticket halls, cinema auditoriums and other closed venues:
• sitting on the steps of the auditorium
• gaining access to the projector rooms
• using mobile phones and similar devices
• bringing in animals (except trained assistance dogs)
• consuming food and drink of any kind brought in from the outside
• distributing advertising material of any kind and the posting of bills/posters without prior written approval
• smoking and the use of e-cigarettes
• using drugs
• deliberate damage or theft in all venues
• carrying weapons of any kind
Instructions given by staff must be followed. Members of staff in all of the various venues have the authority to refuse admission and to give instructions to guests.
In addition to these provisions, the house rules of the individual venues apply without limitation. These can be viewed at the individual event venues.
9. Behaviour in the auditorium
Cinema guests may be expelled from the auditorium following a warning by cinema staff and without reimbursement of the ticket price if they:
• disturb other guests through noise or through their behaviour in any other way
• smoke or use e-cigarettes in the auditorium
• make the auditorium dirty with food
• take weapons or other prohibited objects into the auditorium, whether they are used or not
• take food and/or drinks into the auditorium without permission from cinema staff
• sit on the steps of the auditorium without permission from cinema staff
At the end of the film showing, guests must leave the auditorium through the marked exits. It is not permitted to remain in the auditorium after the end of the showing.
10. Protection of children and young people
Children and young people may only be admitted to film showings suitable for their age in accordance with the German law protecting children and young people, the Jugendschutzgesetz (JuSchG). Extracts from the current youth protection law are displayed at the cinema ticket counters. If there is any doubt about the age of young guests, the Association has the right to demand proof of age. Anyone who is unable or unwilling to provide proof in this case (with a passport, personal identification document, student ID, etc.) will not be admitted to the film showing concerned and the ticket price will not be refunded.
11. Data protection
Insofar as personal data relating to the ticket purchaser are collected, processed or used in automated processes to the extent required for carrying out contractual obligations, this takes place in compliance with all statutory data protection requirements. In connection with this, the Association has the right to store customer data for the purposes of internal statistical evaluation. The Association has the right to forward the data to natural persons or legal entities commissioned by the Association for ticket sales. The data are treated in strict confidence and used only for the purposes stated. You will find the Association's data protection policy in detail at Privacy.
12. Disclaimer of the main sponsor Volkswagen Financial Services
The association is organizer of the Braunschweig International Film Festival and is liable for the implementation. The main sponsor is not liable for the organization and execution of the event to third parties, unless the main sponsor intentionally inflicts damage on that third party.
