Highly unusual: Three women carry out an armed robbery on a small cooperative bank in rural Ireland. Everything goes haywire, as there are customers in the branch and the leader of the trio is already on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Wonderfully played by, among others, Carrie Crowley (THE QUIET GIRL, 36th BIFF) and Bríd Brennan (MY SAILOR MY LOVE, 37th BIFF), AONTAS unfolds in an unusual, exciting way with numerous flashbacks. As a result, we gradually realise which events and experiences have led to this dramatic act of desperation. Even the strongest willpower cannot help one to escape one’s own past, and AONTAS therefore remains exciting right up to the parting shot. 

Director's Biography:Damian McCann lives in Belfast and has been making award-winning documentaries in Irish Gaelic for almost 20 years. His first feature film, DOINEANN, premiered at the Newport Beach FF 2021. AONTAS won awards in Manchester for Best Film and Best Director.
