Four friends fight alongside the partisans against the Ustasha and the Nazis during the Second World War. 16 years later, they become prominent filmmakers. In communist Yugoslavia in 1957, their sexual orientation arouses suspicion and Emir, a communist party loyalist, is assigned to sabotage their careers and lives. The quest for freedom turns into a fight for survival, while Emir’s convictions are called into doubt. No detail of torture, sexualised violence or discrimination is spared in order to illustrate this struggle. Ivona Juka: “The film is a tribute to the power of love that conquers hate. Director's Biography:Ivona Juka, born in 1975 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), is a Croatian film director and member of the European Film Academy. Her film BEAUTIFUL EVENING, BEAUTIFUL DAY was the Croatian entry for the Oscars in 2024.
