“Karma Chameleon” – the pop melody with a hint of country became a worldwide Number 1 hit in 1983. Suddenly, Culture Club was the biggest band on the planet. Posters of frontman Boy George hung in the bedrooms of countless teenagers and he became the cover boy for the “Second British Invasion” in the USA. Director Alison Ellwood is a specialist in the field of music documentaries. She conducts sensitive interviews with all four members of Culture Club and combines them with TV footage from the 80s. Her film is particularly moving in the way it sheds light upon the love affair between the drummer and singer. “It’s an enlightening set piece on how far the gay community and music have come in the past 40 years.” (The Wrap)
